To expand and consolidate Piedmont College’s School of Art, AMT designed a new facility that brings studios and classrooms together under one roof while incorporating an adjacent renovated building into the overall program.

The project includes a new three-story, 24,440-square-foot wing housing drawing, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design studios, and general classrooms. The existing building was renovated to accommodate additional classrooms and office space.

AMT designed specialized mechanical systems to support the program’s unique needs, including integrated HVAC with dedicated exchange hoods for the photo lab, ceramics lab, and welding areas to safely remove fumes. A separate kiln building with high-velocity roof exhaust fans was also designed to manage exhaust safely above the Art School.

A small student gallery and courtyard create connectivity between the new and existing structures, supporting collaboration and exhibition opportunities for students.
