CIVIL ENGINEER I
Armentrout Matheny Thurmond (AMT) is a technically focused, creative architecture, design, engineering, and construction services firm. We specialize in designing and planning for commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial projects.
This position will be performing with the engineering team in water, sewer, utility and/or site design.
Must have EIT or have passed the FE Exam and prefer 1 year experience in engineering work/internships but we will train right person.
Job duties will include:
Design with AutoCAD Civil 3D civil sites, linear designs, etc.
Construction Management/Administration
Construction Oversight & Site Inspections on the field
Perform Hydraulic computer modeling
Modeling with Auto Turn- 2D and 3D
Storm water drainage analysis and design
Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects
Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations
Work with municipalities, industrial and commercial clients
Develop hydrology reports
Perform feasibility assessments
Salary varies depending on experience.

Salary may start at $61,000-$75,000 but is commensurate on experience.
CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP (PAID)
We are looking for enthusiastic civil engineering interns to join us.
This position will be performing work in our water, sewer, utility and site design departments.
You will learn to:
Design with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Perform Hydraulic computer modeling
Modeling with Auto Turn- 2D and 3D
Site Design
Construction Oversight and Inspection
Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects
Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations

Review government regulations and ordinances
Some experience with AutoCad is required. Students will be working with the water, sewer and utility design team and others with the site design team.
Since we are a small company (30 employees), you will be exposed to many engineering tasks and not to the same tasks repeatedly. You will be attending meetings, conducting site visits (eventually by yourself), designing infrastructure systems for surrounding counties, etc.
You can have a flexible work schedule with at least 12 hours a week (or more if you want) for fall semester and if you are interested in Spring 2027, let us know. Your start and end dates are also flexible.
MEP (Mechanical) ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP (PAID)
We are looking for an enthusiastic MEP engineering intern to join us.
This position will be performing work in our MEP design department under a PE.
You will learn to:
- Design & Calculations: Run load calculations for HVAC, lighting, power distribution, or plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Drafting & Modeling: Build and update system components using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Project Documentation: Organize specs, write technical reports, and help assemble construction drawing packages.
- Coordination & Field Work: Attend project meetings, shadow site inspections, and review equipment shop drawings.
Some experience with AutoCad is required; you must have taken and passed the AutoCAD class.
Since we are a small company (30 employees), you will be exposed to many engineering tasks and not to the same tasks repeatedly. You will be attending meetings, conducting site visits (eventually by yourself), collaborating with the other disciplines within the firm.
