Award for Outstanding Adaptive Reuse for the Dupree Building at 458 E. Clayton Street

David Matheny, our Director of Architecture and Vice-President, and his team were honored by being awarded with an Outstanding Adaptive Reuse Award for his architectural services of the Deupree Building at 458 E. Clayton St. in downtown Athens which was a transformation of a former dilapidated retail store into an apartment building with commercial space on the bottom floor. See before and after photos below. Award for the Outstanding Rehabilitation of the Emporium

An award was given by the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation for the Outstanding Rehabilitation of 187 N. Lumpkin St., the Emporium salon building in downtown Athens, renovated by owners Myrna and Denny Field with the assistance of David Matheny. The before and after photos speak for themselves. David Matheny wins historical awards from the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation

During the 48th Annual Preservation Awards Ceremony for projects completed in 2016 by the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation, David Matheny, our Director of Architecture and Vice-President, won several awards for his contribution to the preservation of historical buildings. Firstly, one award was for the Outstanding Rehabilitation of 187 N. Lumpkin St., the Emporium salon building in downtown Athens, renovated by owners Myrna and Denny Field with the assistance of David Matheny. An Outstanding Adaptive Reuse Award was given to Mr. Matheny for his architectural services of the Deupree Building at 458 E. Clayton St. in downtown Athens which was a transformation of the former.

David Matheny receives the 2017 GAMG Community Service Award

Awards, March 13, 2017

Congratulations to David Matheny, a volunteer at the Georgia Museum of Art for recently receiving the 2017 Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries (GAMG) Community Service Award! The GAMG serves the entire state of Georgia as a private, non-profit museum and gallery association. David Matheny is on the Board of Advisors of the Georgia Museum of Art. The Georgia Museum of Art is both a university museum at the University of Georgia and, since 1982, the official state museum of art located on the East Campus of UGA, in the Performing and Visual Arts Complex. The Georgia Museum of Art shares.

David W. Matheny wins three Athens Heritage 2016 President’s Award – First one for Oconee St. United Methodist Church

Awards, June 27, 2016

Our very own David W. Matheny, Architect Director, won 3 awards at Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation Awards Ceremony Monday night, June 6th. One of which was for the Oconee Street United Methodist Church restoration. Weston Baumgartner was part of the AMT architectural team that made this beautiful restoration possible. Mr. Matheny was instrumental in restoring the Oconee Methodist Church after a fire nearly destroyed it completely; it was restored to its original design after a 1950’s modern brick makeover. Athens Heritage 2016 Preservation Award for Outstanding Rehabilitation- Winterville Center

Awards, July 27, 2016

  David W. Matheny, AIA, Vice-President and Director of Architecture received a 2016 Preservation Award from the Athens Heritage Foundation for the City of Winterville’s new enrichment center. Weston Baumgartner was part of the incredible team that brought this project to a successful completion. AMT is excited to have been a part of providing the City of Winterville with an incredible facility for engaging the community. This was the renovation of a historical building which once served as a high school and had been abandoned for over sixty years and now is an enrichment center for the city.
