The project involved the preservation of a one story 8,500 sq. ft. historic ice plant, constructed ca. 1905, for use as a welcome center, museum, meeting facility and office space. While maintaining its original industrial character, the building provides flexible programming with up-to-date technology. Collaborating with the City, AMT developed a plan that retained and showcased the building’s original light industrial character on the interior as well as the exterior, and met the City’s program goals and provided  the City flexibility of use within the public use areas.  AMT obtained 100% funding for this project from the Department of Transportation (DOT). The Town Hall was designed and built to house the offices of the Mayor and Utilities Departments as well as serve as the public meeting room for the Mayor & Commission hearings. This 3,000 sq. ft. brick building consisted of a lobby, reception, meeting room, catering kitchen, office space, two vaults, secondary support facilities and space for a future expansion. The 12,000 sq. ft. Fire Station not only provided the town with a functional facility to house the firefighting equipment which met the required standards of the fire department, but also provided a facility the community could use as well. The work by AMT on this Georgia Transportation Enhancement funded project included the design of a pedestrian friendly corridor sidewalks and pedestrian trails and a Business Route to give pedestrians access to Waynesboro Business District. This project entailed the design of new sidewalks, adaptation of additional rail corridor for pedestrian traffic and new drainage structures to alleviate intermittent flooding in the areas of the new pedestrian areas.

Athens-Clarke County – Groups A1, A2, and B Athens-Clarke County (ACC) selected two engineering firms to design new waterlines for ACC streets that had no existing water or fire service. AMT designed approximately 23,000 linear feet of 8” DIP waterline on nineteen (19) streets from approximately forty (40) selected for analysis. Gas line crossings and the CSX railroad bore were designed by AMT. The project required NPDES permitting through the ACC Department of Public Works. AMT worked the ACC Program Manager, Jordan, Jones and Goulding (JJG) as well as the ACC Public Utilities Department to provide support during bidding as well.

AMT was one of five companies contracted to design and assist in construction oversight of sewer line expansion in Northern Athens-Clarke County. AMT provided the design, drawings and specifications for a major interceptor line adjacent to Trail Creek near Highway 29 North. The project was for construction of approximately 24,100 feet of ductile iron pipe from 24’’ to 8’’ diameter. The project involved coordination with other engineering design firms and working closely with Athens-Clarke County engineering project management firm.
