Federal Express Distribution Center
AMT provided civil site design work for the Federal Express (Fed Ex) Distribution Center located in Athens, GA on a 21.3 tract. This facility encompasses 12 acres of developed property including an acre core area of building and associated parking. The site involved the development of a storm facility capable of holding 10 acre feet of water and the detention pond included an innovative micro-pool for water quality. Because the site does not have a gravity flow sanitary sewer service, AMT designed a lift station and force main utility that pumps wastewater to an existing sewer main. The site design included the provisions to add sanitary sewer to the site without affecting any structures. AMT analyzed the site topography to balance the site and problem solved to ensure the construction remained on schedule.
