After a fire destroyed the 110-year old sanctuary and severely damaged the education building of Oconee Street United Methodist Church in 2013, Armentrout Matheny Thurmond, P.C. (AMT) was secured to design, plan and oversee the rebuilding of the church. As the congregants met elsewhere for services for the first year, AMT planned and restored the education building and allowed the congregants to temporarily meet there until the sanctuary could be rebuilt. AMT was entrusted with the responsibility of restoring the church to its original historic character and appeal taking great care to meet that goal of replicating windows, brick, wood.

The Church required approximately 13,000 SF of additional space for classrooms and a worship/fellowship hall. AMT addressed these needs with the removal of an older recreation building and the design for a new 2-story addition containing the necessary spaces. The design consists of 7 classrooms and 2 nursery rooms with adjacent toilet rooms, an administration/reception room and a small assembly area on the first floor.  The second floor contains the worship/fellowship hall with stage, an adjacent commercial kitchen, a large gathering lobby connecting the original sanctuary with the addition, and appropriate toilet facilities. A mezzanine contains an audio-visual control room. .

After a successful project for Monsignor Donovan Catholic High School, AMT was once again chosen to participate in a Design-Build Project with Salloum Construction Company for the St. Joseph Catholic Elementary and Middle School that included a gymnasium. AMT was responsible for the architectural design of the initial phase of a multiple phase campus. Phase One included: Administration Offices, Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Locker Rooms, Classrooms, Labs and Media Center.

AMT was chosen to participate in a Design-Build Project with Salloum Construction Company for the Monsignor Donovan Catholic High School. AMT was responsible for the architectural services for Phase One, which included the Administration Offices, Multi-purpose Gymnasium/Cafeteria, Library, Chapel and Classrooms. The unique pinwheel design allowed for future expansion of classroom wings radiating from the administration hub and two years after Phase One was completed and in operation, AMT was again selected to do a Phase Two Classroom wing.
