Athens Heritage 2016 Preservation Award – Outstanding Adaptive Reuse for the Rook and Pawn

David W.  Matheny, AIA was honored in the Grassroots Preservation Award category for Outstanding Adaptive Reuse at the Athens Heritage 2016 Awards for providing new use for an old building on Washington Street that is now the beloved Rook and Pawn board game pub. The project was such a successful transformation of downtown Athens and AMT is proud to have participated in creating an exceptional space. Vincent Bricka was part of the architectural team at AMT responsible for this successful project. Athens Heritage 2015 Award For Outstanding Rehabilitation of “Pink Chimneys” 328 Dearing Street

“ “Pink Chimneys” built in 1810 in Athens, Georgia, survived a move from its original location in the center of downtown, several additions and serious neglect. The original floorplan featured two rooms upstairs and two down, with the staircase in a central hallway. Still present within the home are Adam-style mantels with the sunburst motif that was typical of the Federal period. In 1961, Rev. A. Dawson Teague painted the chimneys pink. ARM’s architecture team was called in by the contractor, JW York Homes, to make the rehabilitation of this lovely historic house a reality. Almost all of the original.

Athens Heritage 2015 Award for Outstanding Rehabilitation for 160 Tracy Street

Weston Baumgartner, Project Manager for numerous projects at AMT was given this award for his work in revamping an old warehouse parcel into a meeting and events facility. Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation 2012 Award – Excellence in Rehabilitation for the Waynesboro Ice Plant
